Would you like to sail more safely using AIS? Discover the latest generation of AIS transponders from Weatherdock: the easyTRX3S
Specifically developed for recreational boating, with smart new features that increase safety and comfort. Ideal for safer and more enjoyable trips with WinGPS.

AIS is a system that allows you to see other vessels at a distance – and lets them see and contact you as well. It greatly enhances onboard safety and is becoming increasingly common. AIS is mandatory for commercial shipping, and in the port of Antwerp it is also required for recreational boaters.

EasyAIS - by Weatherdock

For many years, we have been supplying AIS equipment from the German company Weatherdock. These devices offer excellent value for money and are very easy to install on board and connect to WinGPS. This way, you are assured of the extra safety that AIS provides while sailing.

What’s new in the easyTRX3S?
  • Lower price: This new model is €200 less than its predecessor!

  • Built-in WiFi: With integrated WiFi and a USB port, you can share AIS and NMEA data wirelessly with your tablet, smartphone or onboard computer – no extra modules needed. For example, you can view the AIS data in WinGPS 6 on your laptop and simultaneously in WinGPS Marine on your iPad or Android tablet.

  • Proven AIS performance: Just like the previous easyTRX3 models, the easyTRX3S uses SOTDMA technology and 5-watt transmission power, ensuring maximum reliability and range – even in busy waters.

  • ME SENSE monitoring: The easyTRX3S is Weatherdock’s first AIS transponder with built-in support for ME SENSE. Connect sensors onboard and easily monitor key data such as battery voltage and bilge pump activity via an app.

Which easyTRX3S model is right for your boat?

There are 3 models available.

A20018 easyTRX3S (base model) for € 1.221,-

  • Internal GPS. An AIS transponder always requires its own GPS receiver to transmit your position via AIS signals. This allows other vessels to see exactly where you are. The internal GPS is ideal for boats without a metal hull (such as polyester or wood), so no external GPS antenna is needed.
  • Internal splitter. An AIS transponder needs a VHF antenna to transmit and receive AIS messages. Thanks to the built-in splitter, you can use the same VHF antenna as your VHF radio. No need to install a second antenna – this keeps your setup clean and simple.
  • NMEA2000. A modern way for onboard devices like AIS and GPS to exchange data. Fast, reliable, and easy to connect.
  • Wifi and USB. You can receive AIS data either wired via USB or wirelessly via WiFi. Note: this WiFi connection is for data transfer only and does not provide internet access.
  • ME SENSE boat monitoring via app. See description above for more details.
This model can be delivered fully pre-programmed with your vessel details within just a few working days.

The following models will be available soon:

A20019 easyTRX3S-LAN for € 1.310,-
  • Includes all features of the base model, plus a LAN connection. Ideal if you have a router onboard: this allows you to share AIS data and internet through a single WiFi network across all your devices.
A20020 easyTRX3S-DVBT for € 1.414,-
  • Same as the base model, but with additional DVBT functionality for receiving digital television onboard.

WinGPS with AIS

Would you like to connect your AIS device to WinGPS? This is possible with the following versions:

  • Windows: WinGPS 6 Pro, WinGPS 6 Voyager and WinGPS 6 Inland
  • Android: WinGPS Marine and WinGPS Marine Plus
  • iOS: WinGPS Marine Plus
Unlike some plotters, WinGPS easily displays hundreds of AIS targets, which is especially useful in busy waters like those in the Netherlands.

In WinGPS 6, you can adjust various settings for how AIS information is displayed. Such as when ships become visible, color coding by vessel type, and setting alarms.

You can also create a buddy list, making it easy to recognise participating vessels during a regatta or group trip.

With the AIS-XT, vessel movements are displayed smoothly in WinGPS 6. For example, you’ll see a tug and the vessel it’s towing as a realistic whole, without jumping positions.

Do you have an AIS Class A transponder? You can now program it directly via WinGPS 6. This feature is built into WinGPS Inland. For WinGPS 6 Pro and Voyager, you can purchase it as an add-on:
